The Peepal plant is scientifically called Ficus religiosa which is native to South Asia. The peepal plant is a large deciduous long-life tree with a pale stem and multi-sided roots. The leaves are alternate, spirally arranged, ovate, and grow with 6 to 7 inches length and 3 to 4 inches width. The young leaves are pink in color then turn to dark green when it’s matured. The female flowers consist of five petals. The fruits are green in color when they are young then turn purple when they ripened, 1 to 1.5 cm in length. It tastes sweet and bitter. All parts of the plants including stem bark, fruits, leaves, and latex are used in various medicinal applications.
